As fall approaches, there are still a few months left to take advantage of the 2021 cannabis conference season.

Although vaccination rates have helped some return to normalcy in the spring and summer of this year, the proliferation of the Delta variant has made virtual conferences increasingly relevant. As part of our marketing and writing services at NisonCo, we advise clients which conferences to attend, as well as help them apply to speak at these conferences. This year, strategically choosing a conference can be even trickier than usual.

Depending on what you’re seeking, there are plenty of options for those wanting to attend digital conferences or hybrid events. But you may be wondering, how do you even begin to choose a conference in the age of COVID?

Virtual Conferences

If you are living with unvaccinated persons including children under 12,  any immunocompromised person, or those with underlying medical conditions, then you may want to consider attending a virtual conference this year. Here are a couple of fully virtual conferences for your consideration.

Virtual Cannabis Industrial Marketplace Expo

If you’re interested in attending virtual conferences with a business focus, consider participating in the Virtual Cannabis Industrial Marketplace Expo, September 22-23. The conference will include live online seminars, topical networking sessions, and two days of interactive networking opportunities. It will cover topics such as, but not limited to: legislation & licensing, growing techniques, branding, finance, and medical cannabis tech.

Cannabis Care

Searching for a virtual conference with a healthcare focus? Cannabis Care is a great choice. This conference focuses on innovations, trends and tools in cannabis nursing, and will be held October 17-19. This conference will cover topics such as cultivation, telehealth, chronic pain, lab testing, cannabis research/case studies, and more.

Hybrid/ In-Person Conferences

If you are interested in attending an in-person or hybrid conference, try and attend an event that takes place outside with enough space for attendees to stand six feet apart. According to CDC guidelines, it is important to avoid poorly ventilated and crowded spaces, and it’s best practice to check with the organizer or event venue for updated information about any COVID-19 safety guidelines. With those considerations, consider attending these top-tier conferences in person this fall.

Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference

The Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference promises an immersive and robust conference whether you choose to attend in person in New York City or virtually from the comfort of your home. From October 14-15 this event will feature an interactive forum of live and on-demand presentations from top CEOs, investors and leaders in the cannabis space.

Insight 2021

Are you looking to learn more about the science and implementation of psychedelic medicine? Then, Insight 2021 is the conference you’re in search of this year. This hybrid conference will be held September 9-12 and will explore the transformative potential of psychedelic research and therapy. Attend in person in Berlin, Germany, or online internationally from your preferred locale. The four main topic tracks include treatment, basic research, public health and implementation.

CWCBExpo

The Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition (CWCBExpo) is a B2B trade show event in New York City for the legal cannabis industry. It is the leading forum for dispensary owners, growers, suppliers, investors, medical professionals, government regulators, legal counsel, and entrepreneurs looking to achieve success and identify new areas of growth in the cannabis industry. The event will take place November 4-6.

Although this event does not offer any virtual options, according to their Health and Safety Policy:

CWCBExpo, which will take place at the Javits Convention Center in New York City from November 4 to 6, 2021, will be operated in compliance with the CDC, New York City and New York State public health guidelines that will be in place at the time of the event.

The city of New York recently announced requirements for vaccination verification at NYC events. We have been actively communicating with venue managers at the Javits Center about any new guidelines or mandates for events that are being held there. Once the Javits Center issues the guidance and mandates that are expected to be in place at the time of CWCBExpo, we will post to this page.

USA CBD Expo

The USA CBD Expo is the biggest CBD and hemp exposition in the U.S. and South America. This in-person event will take place in Chicago, Illinois from October 28-30. Its purpose is to connect the best products and brands with attendees. The USA CBD Expo promises to bring together the rapidly growing industry for an “unrivaled trade show experience.” If you are a business owner or consumer interested in CBD and hemp, this could be a great opportunity for networking.

Stay Safe; Stay Informed

Again, it is important to check with the organizer or venue about updated information regarding Covid-19 safety guidelines as they are ever-changing.

If you plan on attending an event in person, the CDC recommendation is to get vaccinated and wear masks indoors in public spaces to reduce the spread of the Delta variant.
